The breakthrough in passive safety: The first luxury motorhome with airbags

CMT in Stuttgart: Niesmann+Bischoff is setting new standards with the current Flair generation

Polch/Stuttgart, 14 December 2017 – At the CMT, the renowned public tourism and leisure fair which is to run from 13 to 21 January 2018 in Stuttgart, it will be possible to view the first Liner to have driver and passenger airbags on board. These are part of the comprehensive safety equipment now featured in the premium vehicles of the new Flair generation by Niesmann+Bischoff. In order to permit installation of the airbags, the vehicle had to undergo complex retrofitting measures. A specially-designed pedestal and a bulkhead partition able to withstand the specified safety requirements play key roles in the necessary elevation of the cockpit.

“Up until now, airbags in motorhomes have not been made a legal requirement. By integrating them into the Flair, we are therefore setting completely new standards, and this at no extra charge. I am convinced that we have thus lifted passive driving safety standards for vehicle occupants to a completely new level and, of course – as I personally would be delighted to see – will in the near future see imitations of our work on the market”, says Hubert Brandl, Managing Director of Niesmann+Bischoff GmbH during the run-up to the CMT. The safety package, which was created over an almost two-year development and test phase, also includes seatbelt tensioners as the ideal supplement to the airbags, and ESP as the electronically-controlled driver assistance system. They are components of the new Flair series equipment, which also includes the Pedal Release System for elevated foot compartment protection in case of frontal collisions. This guarantees that the brake pedal folds away to the front, which drastically reduces the possible risk of injuries to feet and legs through the pedal. The Flair safety system has passed comprehensive crash tests with flying colours. You can also find further information here: www.niesmann-bischoff.com/en/flair/.

In addition to the Flair models  840 B, 880 LE and 920 LE, Niesmann+Bischoff will be presenting the Arto with the five layouts 72 L, 76 L, 77 E, 79 R and 88 EK at the CMT in Stuttgart. The third model series for the Polch-based motorhome specialists can be seen in the form of the Smove 6.9 Q und 7.4 E. The Arto, Flair and Smove will be awaiting their visitors in Hall 3, Stand 3B32.
