Wanderlust Adventure cave tours

What happens when you successfully combine a sporting challenge with a large dose of adventure and a strong connection to nature? Come to the Amberg-Sulzbacher Land region, east of Nuremberg to find out. This area contains one of Germany’s most diverse hiking trails, including opportunities for exciting cave tours that are unique throughout Europe.

A range of different tours enables visitors to immerse themselves in a stunning rocky world and explore numerous breathtaking caves that will fascinate explorers of all ages. The 13-kilometre-long Hirschbacher Höhlenwanderweg is a particular highlight. With suitable hiking equipment, a torch and a healthy dose of daring, the route includes 30 impressive caves that are just waiting to be explored. The trail, which can involve over six hours of walking, requires suitable equipment as well as a good level of fitness. Should it be necessary to cut the tour short, the various shortcuts are also well signposted.

If you prefer not to explore this rocky world under your own steam, you can also book guided day or half-day tours. Certified nature guides lead groups of 5–20 people through the fascinating landscape and teach the younger explorers some exciting facts about nature. And if you want to stop for a while, you’ll find many charming cafes and restaurants along the route.
