City tours and relaxing nature at the same time? Sadly, in most cases the two are mutually exclusive. But not in Zurich, where the “Fischers Fritz” campsite offers both. Despite its beautiful location on Lake Zurich, the site is only four kilometres from the city centre and therefore provides a perfect getaway in both summer and winter.
It is particularly popular in the spring, when one of the area’s top restaurants opens. In addition to camping guests, Zurich’s high society also comes here to enjoy the wonderful view of the lake and soak up the spring sunshine from the terrace of the small yacht harbour. For culinary enjoyment: the house specialty is fresh fish, which is caught daily and has earned the campsite’s restaurant a “Best of Swiss Gastro” award.
Those who want to explore Zurich can take the 161 bus into the city, where they can enjoy some shopping on the elegant Bahnhofstrasse, explore the old town with its wide selection of pubs and restaurants or visit the famous Kunsthaus Zürich art gallery.
A real highlight is the Dolderbahn from the Römerhofplatz to the Adlisberg. The cogwheel railway provides access to “The Dolder Grand” hotel as well as the adjoining recreational area. The hotel’s restaurant provides stunning views of the city and lake. The dining here is particularly fine – and naturally delicious!
