PRESS RELEASE Solar energy for exclusive motorhomes

Niesmann+Bischoff generates own solar power – a pioneer in sustainability

Niesmann+Bischoff is now also counting on in-house production when it comes to energy. The manufacturer of exclusive motorhomes has built two new photovoltaic systems on its premises in Polch, which now supply the company with electricity. The majority of the energy that is produced is fed into the grid. The company uses the rest to cover more than half of its own consumption – and is setting standards in sustainability in its industry.

Polch, October 2023 – Self-generated power for Niesmann+Bischoff: two new photovoltaic systems now supply the business with electricity on the company site in Polch in Rhineland-Palatinate. The systems encompass just under 9,000 modules and achieve an output of up to 5,000 kilowatt peak. The vast majority of the energy that is produced is fed into the grid and the remaining ten per cent is used by the company itself. “That covers roughly 55 per cent of our consumption,” said Managing Director Hubert Brandl. “The remaining electricity is also green – we source the rest from a hydroelectric power plant in France.”

The company is stepping up its commitment to sustainable business in other areas as well. For example, parts of the site are currently being upgraded with air source heat pumps, which are planned to come on line in the workshop, exhibition hall and reception area in the coming financial year.

These measures go hand in hand with the economic development of Niesmann+Bischoff in Polch where the luxury motorhomes in the iSmove, Flair and Arto series are manufactured. The site has grown significantly in recent years, for instance with the construction of a new logistics building. In terms of its workforce as well, Niesmann+Bischoff has grown by 15 per cent in the past two years.

Niesmann+Bischoff has been an attractive employer in the region for more than 40 years. The company has already received multiple awards for its performance in this context. In 2022 and 2019, the company took first place as the most family-friendly company in the

Mayen-Koblenz district. In 2022, the motorhome manufacturer also received the Eifel Award, which recognises companies that strongly focus their staff development activities on the needs of their employees. Every year since 2015, i.e. for eight years in a row, the company has been part of the “Fair Company” initiative, which was initiated by the business magazine Handelsblatt. And just recently, Niesmann+Bischoff was named one of the 500 most innovative medium-sized companies from 30 different industries. The companies were identified by the German Society for Consumer Research (DtGV) for the current affairs magazine stern.
