The Smove. Uncompromisingly sporty.
In a class of its own
Depending on the layout, the length ranges from 6.93 to 7.43 metres. Although not the shortest in its class, at 2.25 metres wide and with vertical clearance of 2.77 metres, the Smove boasts a compact overall design that lets it easily negotiate city traffic.
The rear-mounted B-pillar and flush transition between the windscreen and cab roof give the Smove a unified appearance. Flowing transitions in all areas support this integrated look.
The minimalist frontal silhouette, lateral design lines and three-dimensional rear section with aerodynamic tear-off edge effectively reduce drag at all wind speeds. All roof structures such as windows and satellite antennas are located in the slipstream, thus reducing wind noise.
We manufacture all front and rear sections using highly tear and scratch-resistant glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP). The benefit of this material is that scratches can be polished out with Gelcoat paste and minor damage can be easily filled and varnished (spot repair).
18" alloy rims accentuate the automotive look and provide excellent ride comfort through superior absorption of vibrations and bumps, even on the stoniest tracks far from the main tourist routes.
The Smove’s cab and vehicle body are firmly connected by a specially reinforced B-pillar. Its three-part construction makes it extremely stiff and also ensures excellent handling and a pleasantly smooth ride.
We have defied convention with our new design techniques: the Smove has 30-per-cent higher torsional stiffness thanks to the revolutionary way in which the cab and living space are connected via the structurally designed three-piece B-pillars. The 45-mm-thick double-sided aluminium sandwich base plate, which is screwed and glued to the AL-KO low-frame chassis, further increases stability.
The average German man is 1.80 metres tall. With a comfortable ceiling height of 1.98 metres throughout the entrance area, kitchen and sleeping area, there’s plenty of headroom for all the family.
The water tank and underfloor air conditioning system are ideally positioned to provide a low centre of gravity. This not only improves the driving experience, but also creates more free space in the interior.
We know the length of the Model 7.4’s extra-long wheelbase off by heart — it’s exactly 4,250 millimetres. The overhang is correspondingly small. Together, they increase driving safety and ride comfort.
Boundless freedom in the interior – nobody else can match our clever and innovative positioning of the B pillars within the living area. We’ve also widened them. That’s why the Smove also feels much roomier — and gives you the feeling of being inside a liner. The optional SKA seats can rotate 180 degrees to ensure optimum comfort.
